They flew in from the west coast and met a dozen or so of their closest friends and family in Washington DC. As I waited in front of the courthouse, on that cold brisk day, I heard loud laughter from around the corner and saw the whole squad approaching! They were half jogging/speed walking, anxiously trying to make the appointment and every person had a huge smile on their face. Through the dim hallways, there was a constant buzz of happiness and energy from the whole group, and even the grumpy office staff, shouting the rules, couldn’t bring them down!
FaceTime calls to their relatives overseas captured the short ceremony and loud bursts of cheers let out as their title of husband and wife became official. We made a bolt out the doors to walk down the street to the National Portrait Gallery . It was so fun wandering the museum to take portraits with their family and friends! Take a look at some of my favorites.
