For the last few years my uncle, aunt and cousins have rented a beach house down in Duck and while I appreciate the week vacation with them… what’s even better is taking photos for such a awesome looking family!

I have been able to photograph down in Outer Banks so much lately and holy moly it really is my FAVORITE place to shoot!

I was mentioning to my best friend who I just finished shooting on the way home from their engagement session and she remembered Sam from high school.  Her first question was, “is she still not the absolute sweetest?” Pretty sure that’s how EVERYONE thinks of her. She has such a kind and genuine spirit it’s hard not to love her.  Considering the way Zach looked at her the entire session… I think he feels the same way!

I hadn’t seen her since high school so we chatted non stop and I barely gave direction to these two!!!! They killed it. Congrats you guys!

As I drove down the gravel road to the Strain home, I took in the tall trees, sunny skies, and was welcomed by two very fluffy dogs as I parked. I couldn’t help but think how awesome of a childhood Aria was going to have here.  Christina and Scott are two of the most laid back, kind and wonderful people I know so when they asked me to photography Aria’s newborn photos, I was honored! From her soft green walls, to the purple and pink decor and her small wiggly body… I fell in love! Take a peek at the new Strain addition!

When my little brother graduated from high school this past June, I saw one of his best friend’s after the ceremony and I instantly fell in love with the dress she was wearing.  I hugged her and said, “We HAVE to shoot in that dress!”  A few months later she met up with me ready to strut her stuff and magic happened.

These little kiddos are the BEST! I actually babysit them once or twice every few months and I consider it more of a treat than a job! I have the most fun with the kids and when I get to take their family photos every year… it’s even better!

I know that I am months behind in blogging and I am desperately trying to get back on track still… but when you have families that have photos like these…. you can’t skip anyone!

We did this session about 10 feet from a parking lot! Just shows you can make magic happen anywhere.

Samantha and Jay danced the night away at the Clarendon Ballroom in Washington DC and it was one to remember!!!

Candice and Jamie gathered under a cozy bright beach house with their closest family members for a week last October.  During that week in the sun, they said “I do!” I love when couples choose to get married a little differently than what’s expected…especially when it involves the beach and loved ones!!!!!

Paul messaged me MONTHS before he popped the question to start bouncing some ideas off about how he would propose.  What was crazy was that a week before he first messaged me, I had gotten lunch with Vy and we talked about the chance of him proposing soon.  What a coincidence!!! The original plan was to propose at Maymont over the waterfalls but when he started to feel like Vy was catching on to his surprise weekend…. he asked if we could push it back so she was really surprised!!!!

On the morning of the proposal, I walked out to Belle Isle before the sun came up.  I waited and waited…. I was so worried that I was in the wrong place!  Turns out she took a really long time getting ready that morning and he didn’t want to rush her! So funny….. So thankful I was able to capture such a special moment for such a great friend of mine!

Matthew and Bethany LOVE to fly kites so what a better way to propose? On vacation down in the Outer Banks, he popped the big question over a custom made kite…. I love it!  It worked out so perfectly that I was down there vacationing and was able to capture such a special week for them.

I met Casey online through some photography network groups and was lucky enough to photograph her family shortly after.  Casey has such a calm and soothing spirit that she makes you feel like you have known her for years.  Aren’t those the best type of people? I started offering empowerment sessions last summer for women who just needed a little pick me up… but weren’t quite looking for boudoir.  When she reached out to me to book one I was surprised but happy. Casey always had it together and seemed so confident. What could I ever do to make her feel even more beautiful!  She started off with professional hair and makeup with Bobby Pins & Blush downtown Fredericksburg and man did they make her sparkle even more!  As we started shooting, we opened our hearts up about God, relationships, business, friendships… you name it.  I think she may have done more for me than I did for her… but I’m glad she has these stunning portraits to remind herself of how special she is whenever she needs it.  Enjoy!
